A bed for the night

There are about 3,000 bed-spaces of hostel accommodation across London. Those who need accommodation can have a free bed for the night through the council’s specialist services for rough sleepers.

Dedicated to helping

Dedicated council teams ensure that the needs of particularly vulnerable rough sleepers are met on the streets, providing mental health assessments and a street rescue service, which provides specialist workers trained in working with difficult-to-reach rough sleepers.

Westminster Building Based and Street Link Teams and Camden’s Street Services Team work 24 hours per day, 7 days a week. They work on the front line providing help directly to people on the streets; arranging hostel beds, other agency referrals for help or guiding them to rehabilitation.

Anyone can call to refer a rough sleeper.
Westminster: 020 7641 3841
Camden: 020 7833 7970

Note: These are not reporting lines, these teams are on the streets around the clock

Helping the homeless

As part of this campaign to raise awareness of the begging issue, Westminster City Council has teamed up with homelessness charity Thames Reach and The Big Issue to raise £10,000 for charities and drug treatment programmes in the city.
